Each school day begins with Morning announcements at 7:45 in the Sr. Kathleen school gym on the corner of Closner and Stubbs St.
Spirit Day occurs every Friday. On Spirit Days, students are allowed to wear a school Spirit shirt, Walkathon shirt, or College/University shirt in lieu of their standard uniform shirts/blouses. Students are still required to wear their uniform bottoms (blue slacks/shorts/skirt) on Spirit Days or for $2.00 they may wear jeans that adhere to the SJS Handbook. (All $2 donations from jeans will be used to fund field trips and extracurricular activity).
Along with learning and living out our faith in the classroom, St. Joseph Catholic School celebrates weekly mass as a school community. Mass is celebrated every Thursday at 2:45 p. m. Parents and guests are welcome to join us in our celebration of the Eucharist.
St. Joseph Catholic School recognizes the value of participation in competitive sports. In addition to promoting physical fitness, participation in sports promotes leadership skills and team spirit. St. Joseph Catholic School offers an athletic program that is open to students in grades 5th through 8th. Programs include volleyball, cross country, basketball, track and soccer. Parent involvement is both encouraged and expected through the St. Joseph Catholic School Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and classroom volunteers. Parents are invited to participate in the various events which foster our unique and caring family environment. Parents need to follow Diocesan and school policies to be allowed on campus.
Turkeyfest is our major annual fall fundraiser. It is open to the community and provides food, fun and entertainment for the entire family. Turkeyfest will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018. Contact the school office if you are interested in sponsorship, being a vendor or volunteer, please contact the school office.
Every year, St. Joseph Catholic School holds a Christmas program before the Christmas break. Every class in school participates in the program and all family members and friends of St. Joseph are welcomed to attend. The Christmas program date will be on the December monthly calendar.
During Catholic Schools Week, St. Joseph Catholic School recognizes the many individuals who support our school including our pastor, community partners, teachers, students and families. Our Diocesan Walkathon is held during Catholic Schools Week.
A number of after school activities are available for students including Athletics, PSIA, NJHS, Robotics, and more.
